INTRODUCTION:
This position is located at the Sunrise Conference Center, 36th Force Support Squadron, Andersen Air Force Base Guam.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Plans, schedules and coordinates the work of bartenders and bar assistants. Schedules working hours to accommodate bar operations. Plans / prepares bar for day to day operations, scheduled entertainment, and special functions. Determines monthly supply needs and initiates requests for management approval. Instructs and trains new employees of proper work methods. Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinates. Discusses performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates. Initiates all personnel actions. Interviews and selects new employees. Resolves problems related to subordinates and work supervised. Approves and disapproves leave and other requests for absences ensuring program needs are met. Ensures subordinates are responsive and courteous to customers. Ensures subordinates are neatly dressed and present a professional appearance. Responsible for proper cash handling accountability. Works with management in formulating bar operations budget. Maintains current knowledge of procedures, policies, written instructions, and directives. Enforces sanitation, safety and fire, and security regulations. Responsible for recommending ordering, taking inventory and maintaining records. Ensures the bar area is clean and stocked properly at all times. Performs bartender duties when needed / required. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale. Knowledge of a wide variety of beverages and the ability to combine ingredients such as liquors, soda, water, sugar bitters, and fruit garnishes. Ability to mix popular / exotic drinks. Ability to perform a full range of supervisory duties. Knowledge of bar operations and the ability to set up a full service bar based on the volume of the business. Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions. Knowledge and ability to enforce proper cash handling procedures. Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Must be able to communicate clearly and possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to obtain and maintain a food handler’s certificate and CARE certification. Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a background investigation. Must possess valid driver’s license as travel to other facilities and/or special functions may be required. Must meet the minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.
