RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has been restructured at a lower grade to facilitate recruiting and placement purposes. The
incumbent may be promoted to the target level of NA-04 upon satisfactory completion of developmental assignments by demonstrated performance and supervisor's recommendation. Provides routine care according to set schedules for dogs, cats
and other small animals. Handles docile but agile animals without injury to the animals and him/herself. Performs personal care for
animals according to instructions. Observes animals for obvious changes in appearance or activity. Reports any obvious changes to supervisor or higher graded staff member. Prepares rations, feeds and waters according to instructions. Cleans and disinfects pens, kennel and rest rooms. Performs related support work, e.g., checking animals for licenses validity. Collects fees for service.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must be able to acquire and have an understanding of pet care and handling. Must be able to frequently handle objects weighing up to 75 pounds (dead lift). Must be able to exert some physical effort in lifting and handling animals with hands or other devices. Must be able to withstand long periods of standing and/or bending. Applies knowledge of the normal appearance and activities of animals to recognize obvious changes such as refusal to feed. Knowledge of normal feed and liquid needs to provide standard amounts. Skill in handling animals with hands and other device to hold and transfer them.
Work is performed outside and inside. Outside work often exposes the caretaker to unpleasant odors and noises. Outside work exposes incumbent to hot sun and occasionally bad weather.
Usually works on concrete floors and is exposed to animal bites and scratches and animal wastes.
May also be exposed to contagious disease.
Work an uncommon tour of duty to include weekends and nights.

WHAT ARE PREFERENCES? Preferences are advantages in the candidate selection process. Individuals can claim the following preferences:
1. Reemployment Priority List (RPL): Qualifying separated employees shall have priority placement in the NAF activity from which they were separated as a result of a Business Based Action (BBA), when the position has substantially the same duties as the position from which they were separated and it is not a higher grade or employment category, provided the position is not being filled by an internal candidate. To claim this preference, you MUST:
•Submit a copy of your BBA Separation Notification indicating eligibility for RPL.
2. Military Spouse Preference (MSP): Qualifying spouses eligible for MSP are spouses of an active duty military member of the U.S. Armed Forces, including members of the National Guard or Reserves on active duty. The marriage must have occurred before the military member received official permanent change of station (PCS) orders to Guam. MSP is applicable only when applying for NAF positions at the NF-03 and below and equivalent craft and trade (CT) positions. To claim this preference, you MUST:

3. Veteran’s Preference/Gold Star Veteran's Preference: Qualifying military veterans, and spouses/parents of deceased veterans shall be given employment preference over non-preference applicants if they are equally qualified.
